Located in the heart of the Indian Ocean, Mayotte enjoys a favorable tropical climate and fertile soils, ideal for the development of diversified, sustainable agriculture. The territory has 4,315 farms covering almost 6,000 hectares, representing 65 % of the agricultural population and 80 % of cultivated land (source: Recensement Agricole 2020, AGRESTE).<\/span><\/p>

The dominant agricultural model is the mahorais garden (90 % of the UAA), a form of mixed farming integrated with an agroforestry plant cover. A variety of products are grown: bananas, manioc, pineapples, mangoes, coconuts, breadfruit, turmeric, jackfruit, etc.<\/span><\/p>

80 % of farms are micro-farms averaging 1.4 ha.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
