A clear strategic vision for a endogenous development
Mayotte has set up its own Regional Plan for Economic Development, Innovation and Internationalization (SRDEII) adopted in 2019, which articulates 7 major orientations for building a resilient, sustainable economy rooted in its territory. This strategy is based on the region's strengths: dynamic youth, rapid population growth, unique natural resources and a strategic geographical position in the Mozambique Channel.
The Conseil départemental de Mayotte intends to make public investment, support for businesses and skills development for local residents the pillars of endogenous development, creating jobs and generating value for the entire territory.
Strong support for innovation and entrepreneurship
Mayotte is determined to become an "island of innovation". The Department has set up a Regional innovation support fund 1.5 million, with schemes tailored to each type of project: repayable advances for companies, subsidies for associations and public institutions, and innovation vouchers.
This fund supports innovative projects in priority sectors identified by the Regional strategy for innovation and intelligent specialization (SRI-SI) :
- Sustainable use of the sea and maritime activities
- Agro-processing
- Sustainable tourism
- Renewable energies (especially solar)
- Social economy
- Enhancing local resources (forest, water, culture)
Projects are selected on the basis of their originality, development potential and territorial impact.
A strategy focused on International and the regional cooperation
The Mayotte Departmental Council has also adopted a strategic framework for regional cooperation and international actionaffirming its ambition to position the island as a a key player in the Indian Ocean zone.

Strengthening regional integration through economic, cultural and scientific partnerships
Boosting trade with riparian countries (Mozambique, Tanzania, Madagascar, Comoros)
Developing territorial diplomacy and a strong presence in regional organizations
This dynamic aims to offer investors a stable environment, in line with growing regional flows, while reinforcing Mayotte's European foothold as a "regional hub". outermost region of the European Union (RUP).
